I've been wanting to paint this navy brick wall since we moved into our house almost 3 years ago, but I kept putting it off thinking that once I start I'll want to do the whole place. Finally, it got the better of me. A house full of kids & their friends was not the most ideal timing for such a project but nevertheless, job done!
before...
panic sets in about here...
I'm really pleased with the result, it just makes the room so much brighter. I was right, though, I do want to keep going! Next, the hideous cherry red wall...

Oh wow that looks so much better! So light and bright and beautiful! Our house was painted hideous colours too - sky blue, burnt orange and dark burgundy. It felt so good to cover it all. Good luck with the painting. I say keep going now while you have the urge!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I like the red wall! The new wall looks fabulous...really changes the room. I love the mirror too.
ReplyDeleteit looks so beautiful and fresh!
ReplyDeleteI must say, I fancy the red also!!
Wow - that makes such a huge difference!
ReplyDeleteIt must make the room look so much bigger now!
That looks fab and I love the colour that you chose. So much nicer than flat white. We had a previous owner of our house who was addicted to primarly colours too. Our bedroom was the same colour as your hallway. The kitchen was green and purple with aubergine wallpaper accents and our bathroom was a gorgeous shade of stippled peach with bottle green trim. Ugh! Good luck with the rest of your painting!
ReplyDeleteSeriously an amazing transformation....Great job and good luck with that cherry wall that looks like quite a job. But I know you feel sooo much better with a new view :)
ReplyDeleteLove the transformation! What colour is it that you picked?
ReplyDeleteMuch better, one of the boys has a navy bedroom and it is so dark!!! One day he might let me paint it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a contrast! It really "lifts" the appearance of the room.
ReplyDeletewow, that looks amazing! I love white in a room. Hey, I think I like the cherry red wall too, though...
ReplyDeleteLooks great, love the colour you used!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, but what is with the cherry - that is no feature wall, that is a feature HALL?? Love Posie
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! Yes, SO much brighter.
ReplyDeleteOh how did you live with it so midnight? Much better.
ReplyDeleteoh wow looking fantastic ... got to love white paint!
ReplyDeleteSo much better I agree! Such a huge difference. Wow, those cherry red walls such are red! I agree, keep going while the urge is with you.
ReplyDelete:)
definitely a great change! opens up the area.
ReplyDeletered wall does look good, what colour would you paint it. you would definitely need a few coats on that.
♥
Wow! What a difference a coat of paint makes. That looks sooooo much better (and your fireplace is gorgeous by the way).
ReplyDeleteI really like the red hallway, but I'd definitely paint the doors and trim back to white.
Okay, so first of all I have to say that red is my favourite & my best so I am actually quite taken with your red wall, but WOW, how much better is that room now?!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an entirely different room, bright & inviting... bravo!
Looks great, well done you.
ReplyDeleteWho lived in your house before you! They must have been high! lol
wow, it really does look so much better!
ReplyDeleteLove the before and after shots. That colour completely lifts the room. I say, get stuck into that red wall. Imagine the photo frames you could put on it once you've given it a more neutral colour. Possiblities are endless.
ReplyDeleteWOW what a difference it makes. Keep going I say!
ReplyDeleteMy hat off to you as that looks fantastic. I know that feeling when you are not quite sure but the day comes and you just have to do what you have to do. You must love walking into the room and looking at what you created. Well done...I like the red wall but again, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment today...always lovely to hear from you :)

Wow, that has made such a difference!!
ReplyDeleteI confess I rather like the cherry red. Maybe not in the entrance hallway, but... somewhere... x
I really like your new colour choice. lovely! . It's wonderful how different a room can look and feel painted a different colour.
ReplyDeletethank you all! I just new that red wall would be a hit with so many of you, it's not that bad, which is why it's lasted so long, but it's just not me...I do think I might need to call in some professional help on it though, ugh!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely after . I am all for the red wall too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great make-over! Sometimes you wonder what was going through a persons head when they desided to do things like.....paint a wall navy!
ReplyDeleteLove the end result, bet it lightens up the room.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agree with the other commenters Mel! It looks fabulous and I can just imagine how much lighter the space looks too.
ReplyDeleteWill be interesting to see how the red wall turns out too! I've heard that red can be the most difficult colour to cover, but let's hope not for your sake. :)
Loving your new header too. Looks gorgeous. x
Looks fantastic! Completely changes the room.
