grateful for a shared love of thrifting...

so the little guy and I were catching up over coffee & a hot chocolate yesterday & he suggests he needs another spiderman figure to go with the other spiderman figures, "we should go op-shopping" he says, and you all know I don't need to be asked twice...
wonderful things to be found!

I love that he shares my passion for thrifting, and I love that he naturally thinks second hand before buying new.  It really is our favourite pass time...

my creative space..

I started this last night, a simple perfectly everday scarf, I'm loving it so far but I've run out of wool...
I imagined it being  wider, but I'm thinking I'll stop there and perhaps add a pom pom type edge to the ends...

Pop on over here for loads more creative places, you'll love it!

edit #1: hold the pompoms, it seems this scarf was destined for another...

edit #2 : I'm doing the rounds of all you wonderfully creative friends & loving what I see, however Blogger is not allowing me to comment...

grateful...

so grateful this weekend for some time at Mum & Dad's place.  It's such a beautiful piece of this earth, I good long walk over the hills & down the gully is always like food for the soul.  A trip down memory lane every time & the chance to share it with our boys & to see how much they love it is so precious.

I often wish my parents would sell up & move down closer to us, but then I go home & I realise that if they did, we wouldn't have this, and I can't imagine life without this land, a whole other world for our boys to explore & enjoy...
heaven on earth...

shades of winter...

even though we still have a little bit of autumn to go yet, you'd swear we were well & truly in the midst of winter.
I'm loving whites & creams at the moment, and having fun clearing out my stash putting left over yarn to perfectly cosy use..
these headbands have been fun too, and I must say I do feel like quite the ski bunny in the white one! Perfect for these bitterly cold mornings & pretty handy for the bad hair days too...
My computer is slower than slow at the moment, so if you don't hear from me for a bit, you can assume I have given up & spared myself the agonising frustration of waiting a lifetime for a single letter to appear as I type...

Have a great week!

seeing the extraordinary in the very ordinary...

another week goes by way too quickly right before my very eyes..

What a week it's been.  Do you believe in fate? Do you believe that things happen for a reason, that somehow the stars align and we find ourselves changed in some way?  There's no big news to share here, just a feeling of contentment, calm and awareness.  I'm not entirely sure where this has come from but it feels nice.  I don't want to get all new-agey on you, but I do believe that chance encounters, coincidental conversations & maybe a little opening up to possibility has turned a very normal week into something quite extraordinary. Amongst this 'normal everyday stuff', today as I reflect, it seems there were some pretty amazing moments that perhaps as they occurred I simply took for granted.

So, this week I'm grateful for simple things...

Celebrating my youngest brothers engagement, spending time with family & dancing the night away I feel invigorated! It's amazing what a night out can do for your spirit. We had a great time, lots of laughs and one on one chats with my brothers, cousins, aunts & uncles.  Watching the gorgeous couple surrounded by all the people they love, photos of the two of them playing on the big  screen all night long, soul mates so happy & in love..

Giving unexpected gifts and watching the delighted reaction of the recipients..

Saying 'yes' when I would normally say 'no', breaking routine just a little & creating a memorable moment in time..

Getting to know new friends & making contact with old ones after way too many years...

grateful this week...

for having time...
time to create, to while away hours between coffee shops, walks & snuggled up with the hook and even a new book...
I had a picture of this cowl in my head this week & to have the time to just sit & bring it to life has been such a treat.  To have someone else around to tend to little people has meant for a very productive week indeed.  Having hubby home has been a bit of a holiday for us all.

my creative space...

...is all about mending & making do this week.  Although we are only celebrating my brother & his beautiful fiance's engagement this weekend, I am already planning my outfit for their wedding!  I found a gorgeous vintage style clutch handbag a while ago which is stunning on it's own, but I thought I'd make it a pretty shoulder strap out of ribbons & buckles from my overflowing stash.  I love these colour combinations, they will go perfectly with my dress, bought at least 14yrs ago & worn to many spacial occasions, but it's elegant & timeless and I always feel fabulous in it.
Last night our local bookstore hosted an intimate gathering of very excited local ladies to meet & be inspired by the gorgeous & talented Crafty Minx herself, Kelly Doust!!  It was such a buzz to meet her, she is just lovely, I so enjoyed hearing her story.  I was too shy to ask for a photo, but we did have a little chat & she kindly signed my books...Oh boy, I'm still on a high!

a little help goes a long way...

So it's week four of hubby's holidays and I'm feeling a little bit spoilt for having him home...
While I'm busily re-stocking the shop...
making gifts...
and filling orders...
my man is living a day in the life of me!
It's fun watching him check & double check the calendar, zip off here & there for pick ups, drop offs, being classroom helper, doing the shopping & cooking dinner.  After he takes the middle guy to basketball training he's off for a riding session for himself - well deserved I'd say!
